History of SSAA Mudgee

SSAA Mudgee and District Branch was formed at a public meeting on 2nd September 1992. Committee members visited a number of prospective range sites before identifying a portion of land in the Windamere Dam catchment. Initial site planning commenced in May 1994. This was followed by a survey and site inspections by Police Firearms Registry and the NSW Based Commonwealth Inspector of Rifle Ranges to determine suitability of the area and placement of ranges. Range 1 in the Windamere Regional Shooting Complex was opened to members on the 21st June 1995. Range 2 and the Silhouette range opened in May 1996 with the joint SSAA Mudgee and Mudgee Sporting Clays Shotgun Range opened in August 1999.
