rest Championships 11/04/2010
Results 2010
Scheduled shoots are held on the
second Sunday of the month. Refer to the range calendar for specific events.
These events cater for .22LR rimfire rifles. The .22 Magnum can be used on
all paper targets but not on the Metallic Silhouette, due to target damage.
Bring your rimfire rifle,
plenty of ammo and a sense of humor.
Remember, you do not have to
compete or enter the scheduled event to attend and have fun. Sighting in and
practice can be slotted in - before, during and after events, time
permitting.
Calander year runs from April this year,
to March the following year.
2009/10 Rimfire Club
Championship comprises the total points scored in the following
events:
Best 2 results in Scoped 3 Position
- possible 300/event
Best 2 results in BR Hunter -
possible 250/event
.
Metalic
Silhoutte run as a seperate round, as majority of shooters do not contest
this event.

Event types
BR Hunter - benchrest shoot for hunting rifles. Targets have
10 to 6 rings, with 5 scoring targets on the one card, plus 1 sighter target.
Ammo required - 25 rounds/target + sighters.
Scoped 3 Position - The positions are prone, sitting & standing,
which simulate the most used in the field for hunting. Targets used are the
standard S.S.A.A. 25 / 50 metre type and for variety, outlines of rabbits,
crows, foxes and other feral animals. Shot at 50m - 100m. Ammo required - 30 rounds
+ sighters.

Bench rest - shot at paper targets from a table rest. Targets are usually
at 50 metres with some events at 100 metres. These events are aimed at
consistent accuracy, the goal is to put all rounds through the same hole (or
as near as possible). Scored on group size.

Rimfire Blowfly - a large target with a "blowfly" within the
10 ring.
Shot at 100 or 200 metres from the bench and is very challenging to hit the
"fly".

Metallic Silhouette - shot from a standing unsupported position, i.e. no
slings, shooting jackets, etc. Targets consist of metal cutouts of various
animals, 5 of each type at each distance. Chickens at 40 metres, about 60 mm
high. Pigs at 60 metres, about 80 mm high. Turkeys at 77 metres, about 120
mm high. Rams at 100 metres, about 140 mm high.
A demanding event to get
"right" but rewarding in that the result of a shot can be seen as
the target falls over when hit properly. You don't have to wait and count the
holes. Ammo required - 20 rounds for a "half match", 40 rounds for
a "full match".
Please Note: Due to range conditions & attendance - some events may be
cancelled or moved to another date & time.
There are usually two events (sometimes three) run on the Rimfire day. If you
intend to compete in a particular event, be on time.
